SPOLETO AND PERUGIA

You’ll explore this fantastic old Roman city from its origins until modern day times. Before becoming a Roman colony, Spoleto had been a pre-Roman settlement of Umbrian people.

During thise 2 hours-tour you will see, among the remains dating back to Roman time, a fine stretch of a still-standing pre-Roman dry-stone fortification surviving of city walls. The Romans built temples,f orum, arches and most of them are still visible as a strata in the city center. The focus of this tour will be the city Duomo (Cathedral) where even Filippo Lippi from Florence, one of the most significant Renaissance painters, did work in the 15th century.

You can decide to have lunch in Spoleto or in Perugia.

Transfer to Perugia where you’ll have another 2hours of tour.

Perugia is a city full of charm and history. Every ancient gate, alley, piazza, palazzo, and church will capture your imagination; and every museum and gallery will impress you with a sense of history, culture, and art.

You will explore Rocca Paolina the so-called Perugia underground, the main fountain “Fontana Maggiore”, Palazzo dei Priori who contains paintings by Perugino, Pinturicchio and other artists of the Umbrian school, San Lorenzo – Perugia’s cathedral etc.
