BORGO PETRORO

Location: Todi

In the Umbrian hills, with their silver-shaded olive groves, lies in all its charm Borgo Petroro ,a new Country House located in the castle of the same name, just a short walk away from the town of Todi with all its magic. The ancient castle filled with history has been reconstructed and is ready to welcome guests.

Guest Rooms and Suites

Borgo Petroro has 12 rooms and suites, 7 of which are available at the moment. All the rooms vary in their furnishings, with unique antiques such as wrought-iron lamps, trompe l’oeil paintings and tapestry and recycled wooden furniture, in homage to an all-encompassing made in Italylook. All the suites overlook the surrounding countryside or the charming internal courtyard, with its characteristic smell of logs that once fed the public baker’s oven, and a stunning boundless horizon.

Every room has its own private bathroom and is provided with a hair-dryer, television, telephone, safe for ipad, electric kettle, mini-bar, wi-fi connection, coffee set and an alarm clock.

It all makes for an elegant and refined atmosphere, typical of a beautiful Umbrian villa, particularly cherished by Italian and international tourists. The warm and welcoming atmosphere is also enhanced by the wooden pieces inlaid in the stone walls and the big open fireplaces in the lounges and reception rooms. In the Archbishop’s Lounge you can relax with a cup of tea, infusion or coffee (there is an interesting selection of blends and 16 varieties of coffee from all over the world), read a good book or play board games.

Suites are divided into: “Bastioni” Junior Suite, “Stanze del Duca” Royal Suite; “Abate” Suite; “La Greppia” Family Suite; “Colombaia” Junior Suite

Other types of Rooms are: “Ranieri” Royal Deluxe; “Torretta” Classic.

Restaurant & Bar

Locanda Petreja: The restaurant offers to the guests variety of unique local dishes. Traditional recipes revisited by the innovative touch of Chef Oliver Glowing, twice Michelin starred. The menu, its clearest Manifesto, relies on top quality raw materials, handled with expertise, technique and a pinch of creativity.

The sculpture of a knight sits in the centre of the restaurant, in the room that bears his name (knight room), together with an old press and a cart that was once used for carrying hay. There are two more rooms in the restaurant: the stable and the noble room.
Overlooking the external courtyard there is a tasting room, known as “the cellar” and it is located in what used to be the town’s old chapel. The history of the stronghold is kept here together with the farming records of the people who inhabited this peaceful retreat for centuries, far from the more beaten Umbrian tracks.
